AAAS 219 - Structure of Japanese

Detailed description and analyses of essential grammatical aspects of Japanese. Also examined are its writing system, sound system, history, sociolinguistics, and pragmatics. The goal of the course is to gain a deeper understanding of the language from contemporary linguistic perspectives.All lectures in English. Prerequisites: JPN 102, LING 118, or consent of instructor. Offered annually.
