EML 210 - Academic Writing for ELLs

This course is for students who have beyond a basic command of English but whose skills still need improvement. There is a strong emphasis on writing, but this course also provides opportunities for practice in reading, speaking and listening. This course is offered every Fall and Spring semester. Format: Class discussion of reading assignments. Writing workshops. Revision of writing emphasized through multiple drafts of papers and student-teacher conferences. Evaluation based on several papers, short written assignments, and class participation. Prerequisite: To enroll you must take the English Language Skills Assessment, given the week before classes begin, and be recommended for this course.This course is appropriate for first year students.
