The PharmD MBA dual degree program is a 5-year program leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy and Masters in Business Administration degrees. During the P1 year of the PharmD program, a student applies for admission into the dual degree program. The PharmD/MBA prepares graduates with the professional competencies for entry-level pharmacy practice in any setting in addition to a solid foundation in business. With a PharmD degree, graduates will learn to ensure optimal medication therapy outcomes, patient safety, and patient-centered team-based care. With an MBA, students will learn the fundamental data analytics and technology skills critical for the evolving business world. The goal is to prepare students with the most important skills needed in today’s global healthcare market including cognitive flexibility, problem-solving, analytical thinking, technological fluency and strategic leadership. The PharmD/MBA program is grounded in a team-based approach to learning, which capitalizes on the benefits of the student body’s diverse academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

Admission Requirements
A student interested in completing the PharmD/MBA should meet the following admissions requirements: -
Complete either a BS or BA degree prior to matriculation into the PharmD program or by the end of the first professional PharmD (P1) year -
Admission to the PharmD program -
Minimum PharmD GPA of 3.20 in the Pharmacy professional year 1 (end of Spring semester P1 year) -
Completion of Microeconomics (ECON 160) course Program Requirements
The Dual PharmD/MBA degrees are awarded if the candidate has: - Completed all required coursework
- For PharmD coursework, students must achieve a C- or better, or a satisfactory grade (for pass/fail coursework)
- Maintained the equivalent of a 3.0 cumulative GPA in PharmD/MBA courses including core requirements approved by the program director and presented for the degree conferral
Course Requirements
During the summer following the first professional PharmD (P1) year, students complete the P1 Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) for the PharmD program plus three foundational MBA courses. Then students take MBA courses in Fall and Spring between the P1 and P2 years of the PharmD program. Upon completing those two semesters, they return to the PharmD program to complete P2, P3 and P4. Students pursuing the PharmD/MBA degrees must take the required 12 terms of coursework which includes: Term 1: Fall (Total Credit Hours: 17)
Term 2: Spring (Total Credit Hours: 19)
Term 3: Summer (Total Credit Hours: 11)
Term 4: Fall (Total Credit Hours: 16)
Term 5: Spring (Total Credit Hours: 19)
Term 6: Fall (Total Credit Hours: 19)
Term 7: Spring/Summer (Total Credit Hours: 20)
Term 8: Fall (Total Credit Hours: 20)
Term 9: Spring (Total Credit Hours: 18)
Term 10-12: Summer/Fall/Spring (Total Credit Hours: 46)
Additional Course Requirements
All students must present their APPE (Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience) research project at the Capstone Poster Presentation event before commencement. Accreditation

Additional Information About the Program
The PharmD/MBA degree program is a five-year course of study. Students must complete the requirements of the PharmD/MBA degree within six years of initial matriculation. Leaves of absence, withdrawals (medical or otherwise), suspensions, and delayed progression shall be included within the six-year period. Students interested in PharmD/MBA dual degree should take microeconomics prior to entry into the program.
